It’s a battle between Quadri, Assar in Agadir


From 2015 till date, the rivalry between Africa’s best table tennis players – Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri and Egypt’s Omar Assar have always been fierce and again from today, the rivalry will be re-enacted at the 2017 ITTF Africa Cup.

The rising profile of the players has continued to advertise the excitement of the sport while their matches have become a hot buy for table tennis enthusiasts across the continent.

In terms of continental title, Omar Assar is ahead of Aruna Quadri have won everything at stakes in the last two years expect in 2016 when Aruna Quadri beat the Egyptian to the ITTF Africa Top 16 Cup in Khartoum, Sudan.

From the African Games to major continental tournaments, Omar Assar has cuddled all the titles but again when he faces Aruna Quadri, he knows he has to be at his best against the Nigerian.

From his performance at the 2017 World Championships, Omar Assar is in the best form of his life and all these will be handy for him when he begins hostilities against other participants in Morocco.

However, Aruna Quadri will not leave without a fight, as the Nigerian is calm and calculated with the aim of conquering some of his opponents on his way to final before meeting Omar Assar.

With a lofty dream, Aruna Quadri is another favourite for the title but in three days, the new champion will be known.
